The ChinaHollywood Chrises were not invented in 2017. They've all been kicking around in some form or other since the early '80s, and people have been cracking jokes about Hollywood's fixation on blandsome young white male Chrises since at least 2013, when Chris Pratt was cast in Guardians of the Galaxy.

But 2017 was the year that the Hollywood Chrises collectively reached new heights – as did our obsession with them, both individually and as a group. Below, a look back at the year in Chris.

January: Chris Pine shows off a gray beard at the Golden Globes

It's not often that a male celebrity's look becomes the talk of the town on awards night, especially if the male celebrity in question is just wearing a classic black tux.

But it's also not often that a male celebrity comes out with a gray beard this glorious. Hats off to Chris Pine, then, for getting the Year of Chris off to a strong start at the Globes.

March: Chris Hemsworth works out shirtless

Any of the Chrises could tell you that it takes a lot of hard work to look this good. Chris Hemsworth took the "show, don't tell" approach in March, sharing a video of his intense workout regimen.

The clip has been viewed 4.1 million times to date, presumably from people who are purely in it for the fitness tips and not at all interested in shameless ogling.

Getting into superhero shape also requires a strict diet, but don't cry too much for the Chrises. They still get cheat meals, and it can be a beautiful thing when they do. Like here, where Chris Pratt sings to his scone.

We were disappointed that Chris Hemsworth sat out Captain America: Civil Warlast year, but we needn't have been. Between Team Thorand this hilarious play sesh, watching Hemsworth sulk about being left out has been far more entertaining than anything he could've possibly done in Civil War.

For a brief, heart-stopping moment, the internet thought Chris Evans' dog was dead. We rejoiced when we discovered that Dodger was still alive after all, and jumped for joy when the pair were finally reunited. Best celebrity couple of 2017, yes or extremely yes?

Though Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt are part of the same Marvel family, they didn't "really" meet 'til the Avengers: Infinity Warshoot. When they did, Hemsworth said, he was "weirdly shaken." We assume because he sensed that this brought the world one step closer to the Chris singularity.

September: Chris Pratt learns he is Chris Evans

For all these dudes insist that, no seriously, we're all different people, they're all actually kind of alike. Case in point: This extremely scientific study (i.e., online quiz) found that Chris Pratt is, in fact, Chris Evans.

Keep in mind that this quiz comes from Disney, which employs all four Chrises. (Pine is in the upcoming A Wrinkle in Time; the others are all in the Marvel family.) If anyone would know the difference between the Chrises, it's them – and according to them, there is none.

But wait! The Chris conspiracy (Chrispiracy?) thickens. As it turns out, Chris Pratt's son, Jack, is alsoChris Evans. By which we mean that Jack went as Captain America for Halloween, with his dad in tow. Like father, like son.
