The bagel shop is also offering the hopped-up bagel in sandwich form, loaded with "sugar thick-cut bacon, cage-free eggs, cheddar, and butter."
Kerry Coyne, Einstein's senior vice president and head of marketing and research and development told Fox Newsthat the idea came from its millennial customers, of course.
“We have watched the coffee category expand and adapt as millennials converted to coffee drinkers, attracted by the smoother flavor and artisanal characteristics and third- and fourth-wave coffee,” she told Fox.
So what does it taste like? According to the Fox News article, one customer referred to is as "insanely bitter" while another said "I love coffee and I love this." So, maybe it's just an acquired taste.
Einstein decided to launch its bagels as part of the National Nurses Week campaign, and will give any nurse visiting its shop a free Espresso Buzz Bagel and schmear.
In addition to the Espresso Buzz Bagel, the company also launched a Cherry chia Bagel that contains 300mg of omega-3 ALA and 12 grams of protein, as well as a Savory Parm Bagel that contains iron, B1, B2, and 12 grams of protein.
The bagels are all part of a new line called the Boosted Bagel, which has ingredients that provide "functional benefits."
