【Squirting Pussy】
Sure,Squirting Pussy that Episode 3 vomit marathon was rough—but Episode 5 is something else.
During early press for American Horror Story: Apocalypse, creator Ryan Murphy promised "a huge thing happens in Episode 5." While fans are debating what that huge thing was (or if it even happened), plenty of gruesome stuff went down on Season 8's fifth installment. And to say things got gorey would be a massive understatement.
No, there wasn't a super high body count and no one critical peaced out. But the deaths that did occur were brutal—and considering we're only halfway through the season, things can only escalate from here.

Cordelia Goode as a zombie buffet
Wow! Okay, Zombieland.
Thank Papa Legba this sequence was only a dream. In traditional AHS fashion, the episode started out with a bang by featuring some major gore before the title sequence even started.
Lying on top of debris, Cordelia wakes in what looks like aGoblet of Fire-style graveyard. It is soon revealed to be the remains of Miss Robichaux's Academy. Looking around for survivors, Cordelia is charged by a pack of zombies seemingly led by a Voldemort-looking Michael Langdon. (I'm telling you: Apocalypseis Hogwarts.)
The zombies subsequently rip her to pieces and it is stunningly graphic. If you saw the episode, I'm sure one particular neck tendon is coming to mind... Luckily, this was just a vision/premonition and Cordelia is still in the game. Here's hoping she can stop things before the zombies hit the fan.

Kathy Bates going full Misery on Cheyenne Jackson
As one Twitter fan pointed out, things don't generally go great for Cheyenne Jackson in the AHS multiverse. But, last night's episode was particularly rough on him.
Kathy Bates—reprising her ankle torture prowess from her time as Annie Wilkes in Stephen King's Misery—attacks Jackson at a gas station by severing his achilles tendons. (Did your leg muscles just involuntarily seize up? Cool, mine too.) She then slits his throat, douses him in gasoline, and lights him on fire.
Personally, this act of sheer savagery left me a bit divided. On one hand, this handsome warlock was taken far too soon. On the other hand, Kathy Bates has my unconditional permission to whatever she wants!

Misty Day suffering in Hell (and her evil science teacher getting dissected)
And I thought seeing this for the first time in 2014 was bad.
Episode 5 took us back to Misty Day's personalized hell from Coven—a middle school science classroom in which animal lover Misty is forced to repeatedly resurrect and then murder/dissect the same frog for eternity.
Although that is definitely super upsetting, it turns out the most horrifying part of Misty's hell sequence didn't even happen to Misty. When Michael Langdon shows up to bring Misty back from the dead, his big entrance involves a graphic gutting of her science teacher torturer with a scalpel. (Yeah, the comeuppance isn't subtle.)
There are guts and blood everywhere, the guy's sweater vest is ruined, and I imagine the school janitor was pretty pissed! All around, not a great day at Dante's Junior High.

We only have 5 episodes of American Horror Story: Apocalypseleft so things are likely about to get wild. The return of Constance and Tate Langdon—plus the Harmon family—is set for next week, the original bunker buddies have got to be returning in some form, and I am personally still holding out hope for a Marie Laveau appearance. (I know Angela Bassett isn't supposed to be on this season, but a girl can dream.)
Let's just hope it's all as delightfully horrific as Episode 5. Until next week, coven family!
