Black Panther's Shuri990 Archivesreturning from screen to page, this time with a novel by young adult author Nic Stone. Shuriis the first in a series of collaborative stories from Marvel and Scholastic, per Entertainment Weekly.
In a statement to EW, Marvel's vice president of content and character development Sana Amanat said that Shuri was the perfect character to launch the series, one who happens to be royal and have supertechnology but also relies primarily on her intellect and instinct. Writer Preeti Chibber will pen the second novel, Avengers Assembly.
Stone, author of Dear Martin, Odd One Out, and the upcoming Jackpot, told EW she "fell hard" for Shuri as soon as she saw Black Pantherand couldn't stop thinking about writing a novel for the character.
The full synopsis for Shuriis as follows:
Starring one of the most beloved and respected characters in the Marvel Universe, Shuri: A Black Panther Novelfollows Shuri as she races against time to rescue the nation of Wakanda. For centuries, the Chieftain of Wakanda (the Black Panther) has gained his powers through the juices of the Heart Shaped Herb, which grows only in Wakanda. Much like Vibranium, the Heart Shaped Herb is essential to the survival and prosperity of Wakanda. But something is wrong. The plants are no longer growing, and their supply is running short. It’s up to Shuri to travel from Wakanda in order to discover what is killing the Herb, and how she can save it.
Shuriarrives on bookshelves in 2020.
