Elon Musk — chief Twit and Rapsa (2025)PoStEr oF EpiC MemEs that peaked in 2013 — claimed he would actually, finally get rid of legacy blue checkmarks on April 20. That is, not coincidentally, 4/20 aka the holiday for weed because Musk is completed devoted to corny jokes like doge, 69, and 420.

Musk has promised to get rid of legacy blue checkmarks quite a few times now, including on April 1, but on Tuesday he tweeted the latest date out.

A quick scroll around online and in the quote tweets of Musk's post and you'll find folks dunking on the tech billionaire. The whole process of ditching the blue check has been wonky, disjointed, and peppered with Musk's corny sense of humor. Keeping the merits of the business plan or misinformation concerns aside, it's just kind of weird humor for a 51-year-old who is one of the most powerful human beings alive.

It does seem like Musk will eventually follow through on his plan to ditch the old blue checks in his effort to get folks to cough up $8-per-month for Twitter Blue. The remaining blue checks will then become a scarlet letter (well, blue symbol, I guess) marking those mfs who paid for Twitter.

Whenever that happens — 4/20 or otherwise — one can assume we will get more EpIc jOkEs from the chief twit.
