【Moans of a Blossomed Sister in law】
As Lando Calrissian himself says,Moans of a Blossomed Sister in law everything you've heard about him is true.
Including, apparently, the rumor that he's pansexual.
SEE ALSO: 'Solo' is something new in Star Wars. Old-school fans will love it.Solo: A Star Wars Storyco-writer Jonathan Kasdan has confirmed as much, giving an emphatic "yes" when directly posed the question by HuffPost.
But there's a catch. In all-too-typical Hollywood fashion, Lando's sexuality isn't really explored in the movie itself – as acknowledged by Kasdan himself in the same interview.
"I mean, I would have loved to have gotten a more explicitly LGBT character into this movie," he said.
"I think it’s time, certainly, for that, and I love the fluidity ― sort of the spectrum of sexuality that Donald [Glover] appeals to and that droids are a part of."
It brings to mind the similar hype around Beauty and the Beast's "exclusively gay moment," which turned out to be little more than two male characters sharing eye contact.
Or the excitement around Power Rangers' first queer superhero ... who never actually got around to addressing her queerness in the movie.
Heck, it's not even the first time Star Wars has pulled this move. The novel Leia, Princess of Alderaanhinted that the character Amilyn Holdo might be queer. But when Holdo actually appeared onscreen in The Last Jedi, there was no mention of her romantic life.
Sure, it's possible Lando's pansexuality will become more obvious in future stories. Particularly if those rumors about an eventual Lando spinoff are also true.
We'll raise a glass of space wine to Star Wars' commitment to LGBTQ inclusion if and when that day comes.
But until it does? Forgive us if we aren't all that impressed.
